3. Before You Start

Prepare the files, profiles, and sanitized samples required before running an EPM Vitals module.

3.1 What You Need

Prepare the files required by the module you want to run. Common input types include:

  • Oracle EPM snapshot ZIP files.
  • Oracle EPM Base URL, username, and password if using Oracle EPM Pull.
  • OneStream export packages or XML files where supported.
  • CSV source and target files.
  • Excel grid files.
  • EPM Vitals configuration workbooks.
  • Metadata packages.
  • Previously initialized Application Profiles.
  1. Start EPM Vitals from the local application launcher.
  2. Open Tools > License Activation and confirm the license status.
  3. If needed, generate a machine request file and complete offline activation.
  4. Prepare a sanitized sample set for learning the workflow.
  5. Initialize an Application Profile before using profile-assisted features.
  6. Use Run History to find outputs after each module run.

3.3 File Handling Guidelines

Keep a clean local folder structure for each client, project, or test case. Recommended folders:

  • input: raw or sanitized source files.
  • config: configuration workbooks.
  • output: exported results from EPM Vitals.
  • evidence: screenshots, run summaries, and reviewed workbooks.

Avoid mixing production exports and test samples in the same folder. Use clear file names that include the project stage, module, and date.
