1. Before You Start
To activate EPM Vitals, you need:
- an installed copy of EPM Vitals;
- an activation code provided by EPM Vitals;
- access to the EPM Vitals
Toolsworkspace; - for machine-bound licenses, the ability to generate a machine request from the target machine.
Activation is local. Once you have the activation code, EPM Vitals does not need to upload your EPM files to the internet to activate the product.
Do not send production EPM files, metadata packages, snapshots, grids, or business rules when asking for activation help.
2. Standard Activation Steps
- Launch EPM Vitals.
- Open the
Toolsworkspace. - Choose
License Activation. - Review
Current License Status. - Paste your activation code into the activation box.
- Click
Activate License. - Confirm that the license status changes to active.
After activation, the status area should show the expected license type, expiration date if applicable, machine binding mode, and allowed modules.
3. What You Can Paste
You can paste either:
- the activation code itself; or
- the full text content of an activation-code file provided by EPM Vitals.
The activation code is verified locally before the license is saved.
4. Machine-Bound Activation
Some licenses are bound to a specific machine. If you need a machine-bound activation code, generate a machine request from the machine where EPM Vitals will be used.
Steps:
- Launch EPM Vitals on the target machine.
- Open
Tools. - Choose
License Activation. - Go to
Machine Request. - Enter a machine label if helpful. For example,
Finance laptoporEPM review workstation. - Click the machine request generation button.
- Download or copy the generated machine request.
- Send the machine request to the EPM Vitals provider.
- Receive the machine-bound activation code.
- Paste that activation code into
Activate License.
The machine request contains product/version information, a request ID, an optional machine label, and hashed machine fingerprint data. It does not require any customer EPM Artifacts.
5. Replacing An Existing License
If EPM Vitals already has a valid license, the activation page may ask you to confirm that you want to replace the existing license.
Only replace an existing license when:
- you are renewing;
- you received a corrected activation code;
- your license scope changed;
- you are moving from evaluation access to a purchased license;
- EPM Vitals support asked you to replace it.
If you are unsure, contact support before replacing the license.
6. Moving To A New Machine
If your license is machine-bound, a new machine usually requires a new machine request and a new activation code.
Send the new machine request to EPM Vitals support and include:
- the purchaser email;
- license or order reference, if available;
- reason for the move;
- the new machine request.
Do not send production EPM files with a machine transfer request.
7. Renewing Or Updating A License
For annual renewals, changed license scope, or updated module access, EPM Vitals may provide a new activation code.
Use the same activation workflow:
- Open
Tools->License Activation. - Paste the new activation code.
- Confirm replacement if the page asks.
- Verify the updated status.
8. Common Activation Messages
| Message | Meaning | What to do |

| Product mismatch | The code is not for this product. | Confirm that the activation code is for EPM Vitals. |
| Version not allowed | The license does not cover this product version. | Request an updated license or install the covered version. |
| Module not licensed | The license is valid but does not include the selected module. | Confirm your purchased module scope. |
9. Troubleshooting
If activation fails:
- Confirm that you copied the full activation code.
- Try pasting the full activation-code file content instead of only one line.
- Confirm that you are activating the correct EPM Vitals installation.
- If the license is machine-bound, generate the machine request from the machine that will run EPM Vitals.
- If the error says the license cannot be written, check whether the app folder or local license folder is writable.
- If the issue continues, contact support with the error message and a redacted screenshot.
Do not send production EPM data for activation troubleshooting.
